As we all know travel industry is a booming industry now a
day everyone wants to involve in it one way or another, In India the new Govt.
took bold steps to promote travel and tourism in every part of the country. Dr. Mahesh Sharma (Minister of Tourism
(Independent Charge), Government of India) clearly mentioned that he is
very serious to develop domestic tourism, he has plans to conserve and promote
relics from Greater Noida villages and develop them into the tourist spots.
Despite of all only 7 million foreign tourists coming to
India, the only solution is to start a customer support from Indian Govt. a
call center solution with the knowledgeable staff who can handle all queries
from any of the foreigner. They should distribute the number through their consulates
and websites throughout the world and provide one stop solution of all. Govt.
should ease Visa norms and provide special attraction for shopping as well.
India should target some specific countries and provide them easy access to
India, Japan is an important source market for India tourism. During 2013,
India received 2.20 lakh tourists from Japan…India would be interested to learn
from the Japanese experience in the field of tourism. There is huge potential
for collaboration between the two countries in areas of tourism infrastructure
and hotel industry, in particular budget hotels. Japan may consider investing
in the hotel sector, as the same has been opened up for 100 per cent Foreign
Direct Investment (FDI) on automatic basis. PM Modi’s visit is increasing
the possibilities in the collaboration in tourism sector.
According to the latest data from the India’s Ministry of
Tourism, a sum of 656,000 overseas visitors arrived in India in Oct 2014 – 9.7%
more than the 598,000 recorded in Oct 2013.
Neighboring Bangladesh remains the top visitor source market
for India, accounting for 14.2% of the total monthly visits, followed by the
USA (12.6%), UK (11.0%), Sri Lanka (3.7%) and Russia (3.6%).
And the number of people taking advantage of India’s
visa-on-arrival scheme soared in October 2014, rising 41.5% to 2,705. This
accounts for just less than half a percent of India’s total arrivals however,
and India’s tourism industry will be keen for the government to push ahead with
a planned expansion of the scheme cover almost all of the world’s
countries.
India generated INR98.47 billion (US$1.6bn) in revenues from
international tourists in October, up 13.9% year-on-year.
For the first 10 months of the year, India has now welcomed
5.84 million international visitors, up 7.8% compared to the same period last
year. Tourism revenues increased 12.9% to INR 970.07bn.
